Community Identity

A Residential Community Built Around Recreation and Shared Amenities

Lake of the Pines is a private, gated, all-ages residential community and Census-designated place in Nevada County, California. It is governed through the Lake of the Pines Association and is not an incorporated city or unrestricted public resort.

The community was conceived around the relationship between residential neighborhoods, Main Lake, private golf, parks, beaches, recreation facilities, dining and shared open spaces.

People live in Lake of the Pines year-round. Some residents are drawn primarily to boating or fishing, while others value golf, sports, social opportunities, nearby schools, scenery or the wooded foothill environment.

The experience varies substantially from one property to another, which is why understanding the community layout is as important as understanding the individual house.

Everyday Community Character

Recreation Is Woven Into Ordinary Residential Life

A morning may begin with walkers on neighborhood roads, golfers on the course, boats leaving docks or residents heading toward the courts.

Warm-weather activity often increases around beaches, parks, the pool and Main Lake. Dining, clubs, organized recreation and seasonal events create opportunities for involvement, but participation is optional.

A resident can be highly social, recreation focused or primarily interested in the scenery, privacy and experience of home.

What connects the community is not a particular age group. It is the choice to live in a managed lake-and-golf environment where shared recreation and shared responsibility are both part of the experience.
